What You Should Know

✅ Required for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air.

✅ Linked electronically to your passport and valid for up to five years or until the passport expires.

✅ Allows for easy multiple short stays, typically up to six months per visit.

Visa Duration

Valid for five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. A new ETA is required if you get a new passport.

Maximum Stay and Number of Entries

Multiple entries allowed with stays of up to six months at the discretion of the border officer.

Processing Time and Fees

•  Processing time is usually within a few minutes to a few hours.
• The fee for an ETA is CAD 7 .
